Esther, Ion and Radu escape in an underground passage. Just as they can see a means of escape, Abel with a boat, Radu pulls a gun out at Ion, ready to shoot him. Devastated by this betrayal, the wounded Ion falls to the ground.
Just then Petros and Paula arrive and attack Radu. They stab him and cut him, and before he falls into the water, he looks at Ion.
Ion is upset over the sudden death of his friend. Esther grabs Ion and jumps into the boat with Abel, who then drives away. Petros jumps on the boat as well. Abel manages to convince him to allow them to bring Ion to see Caterina.
At night, Paula talks with Caterina, saying that although she won’t arrest her, she’ll hold her captive for protecting the vampire and will execute the vampire’s, Ion’s, guides along with the people who captured Petros.
Elsewhere, in a hotel room, Ion warms up to Esther and the two form a bond. Abel and Petros scout the area and Petros discerns that Paula has made her move. The two return to Esther and Ion and tell them that they must get to Caterina as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, a man thought to be dead meets with someone Esther once thought she knew, Dietrich...
